ReGen Civics runs on a yearly wheel of four seasons named for what they are for: Design, Resource, Build, and Rest. They loosely follow winter, spring, summer, and fall, and turn at the solstices and equinoxes with a recap and passoff; the September one is the Handoff Festival, when the outgoing cohort hands the wheel to the new one on Selection Day. Each numbered Season starts with a Design Season and a new cohort of regenerative land projects and follows it once around the wheel. Timelines are loose in this first full turn and adjust to what the year needs.
Design Season (winter). The technical season. We gather close and do the computer work: designing tools, systems, and governance. New land projects sit down with their core teams and design their games, so everything is ready to come alive in the Resource Season.
Resource Season (spring). The designs are done, so we get each crowdpool ready. Each project lines up the hands, roles, tools, materials, and money it needs to come alive. We talk with funders, welcome people into roles, and receive the energy and resources that flow in. The shared launch is the March equinox.
Build Season (summer). Everyone goes outside. We plant gardens, raise buildings, and throw work parties and festivals on the land projects. This is where the designs meet the ground, and where we have a great time making the magic happen.
Rest Season (fall). The season of rest and abundance. Harvest festivals and gatherings fill the land projects, and then we take real time off: self-care, healing, and time in our villages. Many of us do other work. Then the wheel turns back to the Design Season and a new cohort begins.
Season 1 was the first incubator, in 2022: 43 land projects applied, 16 presented, and 13 were selected. A long stretch of building the tools followed. Season 2 opened at the September 2026 equinox with a public Selection Day, and its 13-week Design Season runs to the December solstice. The cohort and every community project that's ready launch a shared crowdpool at the March equinox. Season 2 applications are open and rolling until the crowdpooling round opens on March 20. We review them as they come in and email you as we go. Being accepted means your project meets the minimum criteria to take part in crowdpooling. From there it's up to each village and project to follow along, join the sessions, watch any you missed, and do the parts your project needs to join the crowdpooling round. Apply here.
